The beginning of his story...
Unable to nest on the Nene Washes due to flooding, Morgan's parents nested on nearby farmland. His egg, caked in mud, was carefully cleaned and incubated at WWT Welney. He hatched on 19 May 2018.

Back to the wild...
Morgan was released with the largest group of 2018, including his three siblings: Mo, Myrtle and Mopsy. The 21 birds were released on Lady Fen at WWT Welney on 19 June. Morgan is fitted with a geolocator so, in future, may help us map the godwits' migratory route.

And his story continues...
July 2018. Morgan is spotted in southern England at the Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve, Hampshire (read the blog here).
June 2019. Morgan is spotted at the RSPB Ouse Washes reserve.
February 2020. Morgan is seen at the Giganta rice fields near the Tagus Estuary in Portugal.

July 2020. Morgan has been on the move a lot this month! He was spotted at Pagham Harbour in Sussex at the beginning of the month, then he was seen at Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve in Hampshire a few days later.
