The beginning of his story...
Chopstick's egg was artifically incubated at WWT Welney from 27 April 2018 until he hatched on 29 May.
Back to the wild...
One of the youngest birds of 2018, Chopstick was part of group three along with his three siblings Cornelia, Chalky and Caramel. This group was released at the Nene Washes on 27 June. Chopstick is fitted with a geolocator so, in future, may help us map the godwits' migratory route.
And his story continues...
August 2018. Chopstick is spotted on the north Norfolk coast with the sibling group Chip, Rosti and Wedge (read the blog here).
June 2019. Chopstick is not seen during the summer in the fens. His sister, Cornelia is back at the RSPB Nene Washes.
How was he named?
Chopstick was suggested by @delwuew1990 on Twitter when we asked for name ideas. We reckon there aren't many other legs in the animal kingdom that so perfectly resemble chopsticks!
