The beginning of her story...
Chalky's egg was artificially incubated at WWT Welney from 27 April 2018 until she hatched on 29 May.

Back to the wild...
One of the youngest birds of 2018, Chalky was part of group three along with her three siblings Cornelia, Chopstick and Caramel. This group was released at the Nene Washes on 27 June. Chalky is fitted with a geolocator so, in future, may help us map the godwits' migratory route.

And her story continues...
April 2019. Chalky is spotted at RSPB Blacktoft Sands in Yorkshire.
June 2019: Chalky is not seen again during the summer. Her sister Cornelia is back at RSPB Nene Washes.
June 2020: Chalky is seen at WWT Welney.

How was he named?
Chalky was suggested by Rob Hall on Twitter when we asked for name ideas in 2018.
