The beginning of her story...
Lil's egg was collected from the RSPB Nene Washes in April 2017, and hatched at WWT Welney on 9 May 2017.
Back to the wild...
Lil was released alongside 24 other young black-tailed godwits on Lady Fen, WWT Welney on 12 June, along with her three siblings March, Tipps and Wicken.
And her story continues...
May 2018. She returns to her release site, WWT Welney's Lady Fen.
June and July 2018. She's spending the summer on the Ouse Washes.
May 2019. Lil is back at WWT Welney. She is paired with a wild male and they have a nest!
April 2020. She's back. Lil is spotted near the Nelson-Lyle hide at WWT Welney.
June 2020. Lil breeds with a wild-reared male at WWT Welney and fledges two chicks!
April to June 2021. Lil spends the breeding season at WWT Welney.
How was she named?
Lil was named after Littleport, a village in east Cambridgeshire near the Ouse Washes.
