The beginning of his story...
Denver's egg was collected from the RSPB Nene Washes in April 2017, and was one of the first eggs to hatch at WWT Welney on 8 May 2017.
Back to the wild...
Denver was released on 12 June 2017 on Lady Fen at WWT Welney. Denver was released alongside 24 other young godwits including his brother Nelson and sister Remi.
And his story continues...
May to July 2018. Denver is spending the summer at and near the Ouse Washes.
February 2019. Denver is spotted at the Giganta Ricefields in Portugal.
March 2019. He's back at Lady Fen, near the Ouse Washes! Denver was seen displaying and scraping. Fingers-crossed he finds a mate!
May 2019. Denver has paired up with another headstarted bird named Purl and they are nesting on WWT Lady Fen. July 2019. Denver is reported from France.
February 2020. Denver is seen near Leiderdorp in the Netherlands.
April 2020. Denver is seen back at Lady Fen, WWT Welney.
How was he named?
Denver was named after the Denver Sluice, a complex of sluices, near Downham Market, which regulates water levels across much of the Fens.
