The beginning of his story...
Ramsey's egg was collected from the RSPB Nene Washes in April 2017 and hatched at WWT Welney on 10 May 2017.
Back to the wild...
Ramsey was released at Lady Fen, WWT Welney on 12 June 2017. He was released alongside 24 other young black-tailed godwits including his sister Purl.
And his story continues...
May 2019. After no sightings for almost a year, Ramsey is back at Lady Fen, WWT Welney!
Apr 2020. Again Ramsey has returned to Lady Fen, WWT Welney after no sightings over the winter - where does he go? May 2020. Ramsey is still at WWT Welney, spotted calling at a pool.
How was he named?
Ramsey was named after a town in Cambridgeshire that lies between the Ouse and Nene Washes. The name comes from the Old English hramsa 'wild garlic' + ey 'island', 'low-lying land'.
